JUNE – A MONTH OF PRAYER
The Vital Planning Committee would like to ask the entire congregation to be in prayer for OUR CHURCH! We thank you for your dedication to praying for the many in our church family who need our prayers. We would ask also that you be very diligent in praying specifically for direction for our church and we would like to plan for June to be designated as A MONTH OF PRAYER.   During the months that this committee has been meeting we have recognized many areas that need attention and we say time and again, “We used to do that.” We are convinced that we need to Strengthen From The Inside first!!   That strength will come to us through concentrated prayer. The Vital Planning Committee has committed to meet every Sunday Morning at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel for 15 minutes of prayer. We ask that every Sunday School Class, Committees, UMW Circles, Bible Study Groups, Youth or Children’s Groups, and any other group who will, pray during your time together, concentrated prayer for our church and the direction that we need to take. Be bold as we seek God’s Leadership for Our Church!
 
BLOOD DRIVE
It is time to roll your sleeves up again. The Blood Drive will be held from 2 – 7 p.m. on Monday, May 21st in the Fellowship Hall.
There will be a sign up sheet in the narthex Sunday, May 20th

FEEDING THE HOMELESS
We are in need of help
with the feeding the homeless ministry,
you may donate your time to cooking
or donate any of the following items to be used in cooking each month.
Bags of rice, cans of spaghetti sauce, packs of spaghetti noodles, dried beans,
and large sized cans of vegetables.
You may drop items by the church office.
We appreciate your support with this ministry.

Please retain your Claiborne Hill receipts and place then in the blue bucket in the Fellowship Hall. When we turn these receipts in we receive 1% of the total, from Claiborne Hill. We will be using this money for the Church Improvement Program.

FEEDING THE HOMELESS
We are in need of volunteers to help with feeding the homeless during the months of May, June, July & August.
You may help by giving donations of money or by cooking & serving. We hope everyone will do their part in this ministry.
 
Who’s Recipe?

We have a recipe for Chicken Taco Soup that did not include the full name of the person submitting it. We would like to give credit to the person who created it.   The only name submitted was “Kelly”. Please give the office and call and let us know your last name so that we may include it with your recipe. Thank you.

39’s Annual Bake Sale

First United Methodist’s own 39’s will host their third annual bake sale on Sunday, May 13, 2012.  Please help support our 2012 Mission Projects and enjoy wonderful homemade baked goods.  Baked items will be available before and after the Mother’s Day worship service!  Thank you for your support!

Cleaning Buckets
 
The good foks at FUMC are assembling Cleaning Buckets for the latest tornado victims. The following is a list of needed items:
  
5 - Gallon Bucket with resealable lid
Liquid Landry Detergent (2 - 25 oz or 1 - 50 oz bottle only)
Dish Soap (16 - 20 oz bottle)
Can of Air Freshner (aerosol or pump)
Insect Repellant (aerosol or pump with protective cover)
Scrumb Brush (plastic or wooden handle)
18 Cleaning Wipes (hand wipes or reusable wipes, no terry cleaning towels)
7 Sponges
5 Scouring Pads
50 Clothespins
Clothesline (2 - 50 feet lines or 1 - 100 foot line, cotten or plastic)
24 -Roll Heavy Duty Trash Bags
5 Dust Masks
1 Pair Work Gloves, cotten or leather
Bring items to Church Office.
 
After Church Sunday School Class
 

The Youth are encouraged to attend an after Church Sunday School Class provided by FUMC to adults with special needs residing in Bridgeway Apartments. See Ms. Susie for details.
